Radar Sofia produced the project Nutricula. Impossible actions by Yasen Vasilev in three segments.
The first one was an open call for a week-long free workshop where Yasen Vasilev presented his score and method underlying the creation of the piece Nutricula. Impossible actions (2015-)
NUTRICULA puts the performers through a series of tasks that aim to test and re-imagine the limits and functions of the body and deconstruct (un)conscious habits of movement. The work aims to liberate the body and its movements from meanings imposed on them. The workshop includes movement exercises, critical discussions, creative writing and an introduction to the structure of the physical solo.
The open call was answered by 45+ performers and took place in DNK space for contemporary dance in Sofia at the end of April and also outside of the big congress centre, housing the dance stage, the NDK.
Then 10 performers were selected to take part in the final presentation, following a 10-day rehearsal process.
Again at DNK, Nutricula. Impossible actions by Yasen Vasilev was presented on May 20 and 21, 2021
The whole process was documented by visual artist Martin Atanasov and the documentation was published in handbound art book where you can also find detailed instructions as to how to create your own Impossible Actions solo at home.
The book is still available for sale at: info@radarsofia.org
The project is part of the Drama Pact platform and was supported by the Contemporary Dance programme of the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria.
